Setup PPTP VPN on Windows XP


Create VPN connection

  • Click start button and open Control Panel. Step 1. Click start button and open Control Panel.
  • Click Network and Internet Connections. Step 2. Click Network and Internet Connections.
  • Select Create a connection to the network at your workplace. Step 3. Select Create a connection to the network at your workplace.
  • Change to Virtual Private Network connection and hit Next. Step 4. Change to Virtual Private Network connection and hit Next.

  • Select Add shortcut to this connection to my desktop checkbox and hit Finish. Step 7. Select Add shortcut to this connection to my desktop checkbox and hit Finish.
  • Click on the newly created VPN connection shortcut. Enter your login info (look PPTP info text file in the user dashboard). Select the Save this user name and password checkbox and click Connect. Step 8. Click on the newly created VPN connection shortcut. Enter your login info (look PPTP info text file in the user dashboard). Select the Save this user name and password checkbox and click Connect.NB! Never use remember password option on public computers! If someone connects with your details when you online, you will be disconnected!
  • Right click on the VPN Network icon in system tray and hit Disconnect when you finish. Step 9. Right click on the VPN Network icon in system tray and hit Disconnect when you finish.

Delete VPN connection

  • Right click on the VPN Connection and click Delete. Step 2. Right click on the VPN Connection and click Delete.
